In this portrait the goddess Tethys is a depicted as a woman with a winged brow, hair wreathed in fish and other assorted sea-creatures, a draconic sea-serpent on her shoulder and an oar in her hand. She is circled by a company of winged Erotes (Loves) fishing from boats at sea.
