ARDESKOS (or Ardescus) was a River-God of inland Thrake (modern Bulgaria).
The River Ardeskos or Arda, now called the Maritsa, flows through inland Thrake, behind the Rhodope mountains, to converge with the river Hebros near the town of Oresteia.
Hesiod, Theogony 337 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or 7th B.C.) :
"Tethys bore to Okeanos the swirling Potamoi (Rivers) . . . Euenos and Ardeskos, and Skamandros [in a list of rivers]."
